A large, well known beverages company supplying all the UK major supermarkets and retail shops. The annual turnover was in excess of £500 million.
The client was experiencing major problems in their 2 x 100,000 sq ft warehouses in the areas of picking, rotation and accuracy of bonded stocks, stock holding policy and staff management. Lack of bonded stock accuracy was costing the company significant losses each month, and was jeopardising their bonded stock licence.

Brief
Required to manage the day to day warehouse operation, and additionally to:
- Submit recommendations to the Logistics Director for future management structure.
- Submit proposals for development of the operation over the next 2 to 3 years.
- Reorganise stock take procedures and run the annual stock take.
- Close down one warehouse and integrate it into the main site
Achievements
- Implemented revised management structure to take Company forward to meet their 5 year strategic plan.
- Submitted recommendations to the Board of Directors to introduce RDT systems for improved stock accuracy as well overall productivity.
- Reviewed and reorganised stocking procedures and improved stock accuracy resulting in a saving of £200,000 a quarter in bonded payments.
- Revolutionised stock take procedures, and ran annual stock take which reduced company closure time by 50%.
- Submitted recommendations for consolidating two sites into one covering Bonded and Duty paid warehousing facilities. These recommendations were accepted and implemented.
